DESCRIPTION:1301 Arlington Ave. E   St. Paul\, MN 55106 \n Saint Paul Bird Alliance joins with Friends of Swede Hollow and Friends of the Parks and Trails of St. Paul and Ramsey County to offer this opportunity to stroll along a portion of the Bruce Vento Regional Trail. Learn the history of the land and the Trail\, and the current efforts to save this important corridor from transit development. Along the way\, we’ll look for some summer birds. Beginners are most welcome. \nINFORMATION: Bring binoculars if you have them. A limited number of binoculars are available to borrow. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. Water and bug spray advised. \nDIRECTIONS: Meet at the Bergeron Pass Marker at 44.984910\, -93.045536\, on the corner of English St. and Arlington Ave. Street\, parking available along the east side of English St. \nREGISTRATION: None. \nDIFFICULTY: Level pathway with both paved and natural surfaces. DESCRIPTION:Help protect a Minnesota species in decline!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUrban Bird Collective (UBC) invites LLBA to Community Swift Sits.\nChimney Swifts (Chaetura pelagica) are aerial insectivores whose populations are dropping. Because they rely on human-built structures for nesting and roosting\, the Twin Cities area and surrounding regions are ideal for observing and protecting them.  This year\, the University of Minnesota (UBC) is partnering with the Department of Natural Resources\, Fish & Wildlife Services Migratory Birds\, and the MN Valley National Wildlife Refuge to gather vital ecological data through community science.  Join us this August and September to observe these spectacular birds! \nSurvey Schedule & Locations \n\nFriday\, August 28th: Mahtomedi High School\nTuesday\, September 1st: Mahtomedi High School\nMonday\, September 7th: Mahtomedi High School\nMonday\, September 14th: Mahtomedi High School\n\nThe Main Roost: Historically\, Mahtomedi High School (8000 75th St. N\, Mahtomedi\, MN) has hosted up to 2\,000 chimney swifts each night! Bring a chair or blanket and join us 45 minutes before dusk for a special evening of observation. \nImportant Sign-Up Note: Due to recent weather and smoke conditions\, we aren’t entirely sure how the natural staging process will be impacted. We are asking all attendees to sign up in advance so we can contact you immediately in case we need to cancel or reschedule an event.
