Here is everything you need to know to enjoy the event. \nFriday Evening Guest Speaker\nWe are delighted to welcome back Stan Tekiela. He will be sharing his presentation “Feathers”.  \nEvery bird is covered with thousands of feathers. Each of these feathers is a combination of incredible engineering and absolute beauty. This presentation is stunningly illustrated with hundreds of feathers and fun facts\, all delivered with Stan’s playful sense of humor. \nDue to the size of the venue\, attendance will be limited to 100 people. \nAccommodations\nParticipants staying overnight will need to make their own lodging reservations. Nearby communities with good options include Lake City\, Red Wing\, and Wabasha. \nLocation\nHok Si La Park Dining Hall in Lake City\, Minnesota\, is the central hub for all activities.\nwww.hoksilapark.org \nOn-Site Information\nAnnouncements will be shared after each meal. SUMMARY:Guided Birdwatching for People with Mobility Challenges
DESCRIPTION:May 17\, 2026 @ 11:00 am-12:30 pm \nMinnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center \n3815 American Boulevard\, East Bloomington\, MN\, 55425   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHosted by the Land of Lakes Bird Alliance (formerly the Audubon Chapter of Minneapolis); co-sponsored by Birdability ® and Saint Paul Bird Alliance \nSign Up today – Advance registration is required. Limited to 20 participants.\nWe will meet at the bird feeder just behind the MVNWR Visitor Center (no need to enter the building). If it is raining\, we will meet inside the Visitor Center. \nJoin us as we enjoy spring birdwatching at the feeder\, adjacent fields\, and nearby overlook. \nThis outing is appropriate for birders with a range of mobility challenges including birders who use wheelchairs\, walkers\, or canes\, as well as those who walk slowly\, but all birders are welcome. We expect to see many species of bird at close range. All birders from beginner to experienced are welcome. \n\n\nBinoculars will be available for those who need them. \n\n\nPlease dress for the weather. \n\n\nBirdability/accessibility description: The path is paved and has curb cuts from the parking lot. The path is wide and flat\, with no slopes. The bird feeder is just 400 feet from the handicap parking spaces. Disability parking spaces are available\, and accessible portable toilets are located nearby.
