Because they rely on human-built structures for nesting and roosting\, the Twin Cities area and surrounding regions are ideal for observing and protecting them.  This year\, the University of Minnesota and the Urban Bird Collective (UBC) are partnering with the Department of Natural Resources\, Fish & Wildlife Services Migratory Birds\, and the MN Valley National Wildlife Refuge to gather vital ecological data through community science.  Join us this August and September to observe these spectacular birds! \nSurvey Schedule & Locations \n\nFriday\, August 28th: Mahtomedi High School\nTuesday\, September 1st: Mahtomedi High School\nMonday\, September 7th: Mahtomedi High School\nMonday\, September 14th: Mahtomedi High School\n\nThe Main Roost: Historically\, Mahtomedi High School (8000 75th St. N\, Mahtomedi\, MN) has hosted up to 2\,000 chimney swifts each night!
