Come learn about the history of the site and see what fall migrants pass through the Hollow. Those who want to track birds at Mike’s feeders are welcome to bring a folding chair and join Kiki Sonnen for a “bird sit” opportunity at the meeting spot. You might want to bring your art supplies and try sketching the scene. \nINFORMATION:  Loaner binoculars and field guides will be available for your use. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. No restrooms on site. \nDIRECTIONS :   Meet at the entrance to the Drewry Tunnel at Swede Hollow Park across from 622 Beaumont St. East\, St. Paul 55130.  44.961473\, -93.074421 On street parking is available. Parking is also available at the Hope Community Academy parking lot at the end of Beaumont Street. \nREGISTRATION     None\nDIFFICULTY  Approximately 1.5 miles on rolling paved paths. Birders of all levels welcome. SUMMARY:Dragonflies & Flycatchers
DESCRIPTION:Do you like Birds? Do you like Dragonflies? Then join in the fun at Swede Hollow Park to take a closer look at dragonflies and learn of the birds who feed on them. This free fun family event is set for Saturday\, July 2nd from 1 – 3 pm. \nDragonfly experts will net dragonflies and hold them to give people a closer look at these interesting creatures. Volunteers can try their own hand catching and releasing the dragonflies – in nets provided. We will learn about the life stages of dragonflies\, the variety of dragonflies\, what they eat and who eats them. Audubon volunteers will be on hand to discuss birds such as Flycatchers who rely on dragonflies as an important food source. Friends of Swede Hollow will share the history of Swede Hollow and dreams for the Park’s future. \nMeet at the Swede Henge on the North Side of Swede Hollow Park. Follow the signs from 622 Beaumont Street and enter the Park via the Drewry Tunnel. \nThis event is co-sponsored by Friends of Swede Hollow\, Minnesota Dragonfly Society\, St Paul Audubon Society\, and Saint Paul Parks Conservancy.
