Saint Paul Audubon Society provides grants to nonprofit organizations to support the Society’s mission:

The Saint Paul Audubon Society promotes the enjoyment, understanding, and protection of birds and other wildlife by engaging people of the East Metro in birding, education, and conservation.

Grants typically are for $500-$2000 and are awarded to projects or activities in areas such as

• Environmental education
• Habitat restoration, preservation, or expansion
• Supporting opportunities for birders and birding trip leaders
• Diversifying participation in birding and nature activities
• Providing nesting support or native plants

Preference is given to activities in Ramsey and Washington Counties, and to efforts that further the Society’s focus areas of education, conservation, and policy/advocacy.

Recipients in 2021 and 2022 included Urban Bird Collective, Frogtown Green, Carpenter Nature Center, Osprey Wilds, University of Belize, Red-headed Woodpecker Project, Minnesota Breeding Bird Atlas, and Friends of Sax-Zim Bog. Multi-year grant applications are welcome for ongoing projects.

Grantees are expected to complete a brief annual report on project activities, to provide a short article and pictures for Society publications, and to do a 5-minute presentation at a member meeting to highlight the project’s accomplishments.
