One of the best birding areas in Twin Cities Metro! Focus is on songs/calls of nesting birds in a hardwood forest as well as spring migrants. Hooded warbler is a target species.
DIRECTIONS Head south from Minneapolis on 35W. Take Exit 2 for Burnsville Pkwy. Turn L on Burnsville Pkwy., go 2.1 miles. Turn right on Burnsville Pkwy W., go 1.6 miles. Continue straight ahead on Hanrehan Lake Blvd., go 1.1 miles. At the traffic circle take 2nd exit onto Murphy Lake Blvd., go 0.1 mile. Turn left into Park. Meet in parking lot. 44.724223, -93.348243

DIFFICULTY Approximately 3+ miles on wide, natural grass and dirt trails (some areas slightly rocky) with some moderate, long hills. This is our longest and most challenging trip. Pit toilets available at main trailhead
